More victims come forward against Florissant police officer accused of stealing nude photos

FLORISSANT, Missouri (First Alert 4) – More women have come forward accusing a Florissant police officer of taking nude photos with their cellphones during traffic stops, according to the attorney handling their cases.

The officer is no longer employed by the department, Florissant police said.

According to the lawsuit, “Florissant has received complaints about Officer Smith's inappropriate conduct in the past and has chosen to retain him.”

The alleged victims include a married couple and a minor.

“Misconduct affects all officers, no matter where it happens,” said police expert and former St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden.

Hayden served in the police force for 35 years and said if he were the chief of the Florissant Police Department, policy changes would happen immediately.

“Phones are only accepted for evidence purposes,” Hayden said. “The police chief can issue an order immediately.”

Attorney Rick Voytas is representing the victims and said the identity of the unnamed officer could soon be made public.

“Nobody expects something like this to happen. No one should have to go through this and suffer this humiliation,” Voytas said.
