Fortinet confirms a breach that likely resulted in 440 GB of customer data being lost

“Given the limited nature of the incident, we have not identified, and do not currently believe that the incident is likely to have, a material impact on our financial condition or results of operations,” the cybersecurity giant added. The company also said it has launched an investigation and has now successfully terminated the unauthorized access.

Fortinet has not yet publicly confirmed the nature and extent of the data stolen in the incident. Emailed questions to Fortinet about the validity of Fortibitch's ransomware claims and other details of the data theft remained unanswered at the time of publication of this article.

Failed negotiations

In their dark web complaint, Fortibitch stated that they were able to access Azure SharePoint data from an open Amazon S3 bucket and are now making it all public since Fortinet rejected their ransom demand.
