Further rain, possibly severe impacts on Friday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Francine has weakened to a post-tropical cyclone and continues to ravage the Mid-South region of the country. After several showers and thunderstorms on Thursday… We will see more showers and storms on Friday and into the weekend.

Occasional thunderstorms will form and move across the state today. It won't rain all day, but when it does rain, we could see localized downpours!

The forecast calls for more thunderstorms, but not every downpour will be severe. While the chances are low, we can't completely rule out the possibility of a fast-moving, swirling storm or two on Friday.

Check out the latest live and local weather data below, streamed on WSFA Weather Now! Please note that this stream does not contain live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions.

Precipitation chances will remain high this weekend as the remnants of Francine continue to move toward the northwest. This will result in widely scattered showers and thunderstorms this weekend, with highs around 27°C and lows between 15 and 21°C. While it won't be consistently rainy this weekend, some rain is still expected that could affect your weekend plans.

The weather pattern will change next week! It's looking drier and the sun is returning, all thanks to the last remnants of Francine and the high pressure system moving back into the region… Highs will remain seasonal between 27 and 30 degrees most days, while lows will drop to 15 degrees overnight.
