Connecticut man arrested in connection with fatal drug overdose

A Shelton man has been charged in connection with a fatal drug overdose.

Daniel Reid, 38, of Shelton was arrested Friday and charged with selling narcotics to someone on May 26 before that person died of an overdose, according to Shelton police.

According to police, detectives investigating the death were able to link Reid to the fatal overdose.

During the investigation, detectives obtained search warrants for Reid's home and vehicle and seized narcotics, a semi-automatic weapon without a serial number and ammunition, police said.

Reid faces charges of drug possession with intent to sell, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal alteration of firearm identity, illegal possession of ammunition and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

Following his arrest, Reid was held on $300,000 bail and was scheduled to be arraigned later that day in Derby Superior Court.
