A man was arrested and a firearm seized after three people died in Marsh Farm

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after three people died in a high-rise building.

Bedfordshire Police responded to concerns for the welfare of some local residents and discovered three injured people in a flat in the Marsh Farm area of ​​Luton at around 05:30 BST.

All three people in the 15-story Leabank building were pronounced dead and police found a weapon during searches.

Det Supt Rob Hall said: “As part of our investigation we have recovered a firearm on Bramingham Road and enquiries into this are ongoing.”

Armed police officers and investigators in white forensic gear were spotted at the high-rise on Wauluds Bank Drive and in a nearby green space.

The 18-year-old was arrested this morning on Bramingham Road, which intersects with Wauluds Bank Drive.

Det Supt Hall added: “We are still in the early stages of this investigation and formal identification of the victims is still pending. However, we believe all those involved know each other and are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

“We will have officers on site and in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the weekend. I would encourage anyone who has concerns to speak to their local authority officers.”

He added that they do not believe there is a threat to the wider community.
