28 Events to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Chicagoland

Oktoberfest kicks off in Munich on September 21, but you don't have to leave the Chicago area to join in on the fun. Large celebrations with plenty of German beer, food and music take place all over the city and its suburbs, as well as stein-holding contests where participants test their strength and endurance. Local breweries mix up their own version of Oktoberfest beer to enjoy as the weather gets cooler, bars add bratwursts and pretzels to their menus, and even dogs can celebrate at Barktoberfest parties with plenty of treats. Get ready to raise a glass and dance to polka music at one of these 28 Oktoberfest events.
