Cause of death of “ALF” child star Benji Gregory announced

The cause of death of “ALF” star Benji Gregory was announced three months after the former child actor died at the age of 46.

Gregory, who was found dead in his car in Peoria, Arizona, on June 13, died of “environmental exposure related to cirrhosis of the liver,” according to the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner.

According to the coroner's report, the cause of death was an accident.

In July, Gregory’s former brother-in-law Max Pfaffinger confirmed the actor’s death to Fox News Digital. Gregory’s Service dogHans was also found dead in the vehicle.

Gregory's death was first announced by his sister Rebecca Hertzberg-Pfaffinger in a Facebook post on July 10.

“It is with a heavy heart that my family must suffer a loss far too soon,” Hertzberg-Pfaffinger wrote alongside photos of Gregory with her family.

She continued, “Ben was a great son, brother and uncle. He was fun to be around and made us laugh a lot. When I look through his stuff, I still laugh at little videos or notes from him and cry in between.”

“My brother Ben was found in his car along with his beloved service dog Hans, who passed away on June 13th. We believe he went there on the evening of the 12th to leave some residue. (Found in his car) and did not get out of the car to do so. He fell asleep and died of heat stroke in the car.”

Born on May 26, 1978 in Los Angeles, Gregory began his television career at a young age, appearing in TV shows such as The A-Team, TJ Hooker, Punky Brewster, The Twilight Zone, and more.

Gregory became known primarily for his role as Brian Tanner in the successful sitcom “ALF” during its run from 1986 to 1990.

After his time on “ALF,” Gregory voiced Edgar the Mole in the 1993 animated film “Once Upon a Forest.” This appears to be his last known role.

Accordingly DeadlineGregory left the entertainment industry in the early 2000s and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged for medical reasons in 2005.
