Cleveland Police: 1 dead in four-car crash on Shoreway

CLEVELAND – Cleveland police confirm one person is dead following a four-car crash on Shoreway east of downtown Friday night.

Authorities confirm the incident occurred on Interstate 90 East near East 55th Street. The crash occurred as the drivers were traveling to Cleveland to attend the Billy Joel and Rod Stewart concert at Huntington Bank Field, Nicki Minaj's performance at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and the Guardians' game at Progressive Field.

The name of the victim, who died at the scene, has not yet been released. It is not known if anyone else was injured in the incident.

The accident forced authorities to close all lanes of the Shoreway except the leftmost lane, which hampered traffic on I-90 through downtown back to I-77. The accident scene was cleared by 8:20 p.m.
