Baltimore District Court Judge Alan C. Lazerow sentenced 38-year-old Tayvon Miller to life in prison for the killing of 38-year-old Frissell Townes Jr.

Miller was found guilty of first-degree murder, armed robbery, use of a firearm during a serious violent crime, and possession of a weapon and was sentenced for the June 28, 2023, murder in the 2600 block of West Patapsco Avenue.

During the hearing, the prosecutor read a letter Townes' family had written for Miller, expressing sadness over the defendant's decision to take the victim's life. The family also felt safer knowing that their loved one's killer would be in prison.

The prosecution demanded a life sentence plus 35 years in prison because the crime was committed intentionally.

Judge Lazerow said: “The worst crime should be punished with the worst punishment.”

The judge sentenced Miller to life in prison for first-degree murder, a consecutive term of 20 years for armed robbery, 15 consecutive years for possession of a weapon with a felony conviction, and an additional 20 consecutive years for use of a weapon in a serious crime of violence.
