Man found shot in the head succumbs to his injuries; Clarksville suspect arrested in Nashville

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The man found shot in the head in northwest Clarksville early Tuesday morning has succumbed to his injuries and a suspect has been arrested in Nashville.

Early on the morning of September 10, a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the area of ​​Ash Ridge Drive next to the Dollar General parking lot, according to previous reports. A gun was found at the scene.

Life support has since been discontinued and he has been identified as 18-year-old Carlos Wills of Lebanon, Tennessee, Clarksville police spokesman Officer Scott Beaubien said Friday evening.

Detectives from the District 1 Criminal Investigation Division, CPD's Intelligence Unit and the Special Operations Homicide Unit investigated the incident and identified Za'Kwon Jaterrion Holliday, 20, of Clarksville, as the suspect, Beaubien said. They obtained a murder warrant for his arrest.

On Friday at around 6:30 p.m., agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Metro/Nashville Police conducted a joint traffic stop and arrested Holliday in Nashville.

“This was an isolated incident and at no time did law enforcement believe there was an active threat to the public,” Beaubien said.

CPD detectives also want to speak with 19-year-old Davontay Tyrek Spencer of Clarksville, who was present at the time of the shooting. Anyone with information on Spencer's whereabouts is asked to contact CPD.
