Carmel residents concerned about safety issues at intersection after serious accident

News 12 learned of a serious accident in Carmel on Friday evening.

It happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Union Valley Road and West Lovell Avenue.

The accident closed the road for almost two hours.

There is no information about the cause of the accident, the number of people involved and the extent of their injuries.

Neighbors who live near the intersection say it is dangerous and has been a problem area for years.

Hugo Pasato and his family live right next to the intersection. They say they have seen several accidents in recent years, but this one is different. He said he has never seen a car roll over at this intersection.

Pasato said he was even nervous about letting his children out on the front yard. He said accidents have happened on his property in the past.

He said something needed to be done to make this intersection safer.

“This has to stop. There are so many accidents here. I've been here about four years and this is maybe the 13th accident since I bought this property. It's a really bad intersection,” Pasato said.
