Part of Main Street in Colchester reopened after motorcycle accident, police say

A serious crash involving a motorcyclist and another vehicle closed part of a major thoroughfare in Colchester for nearly four hours Friday night. Colchester police said the crash occurred on Main Street between Birchwood Drive and East Road. According to police, the driver of the motorcycle, Scott Blaise of New Haven, Vermont, was traveling toward Essex when he lost control and fell from the motorcycle onto the road. The motorcycle was then struck by an oncoming vehicle. Police said Blaise was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe speed may have played a role in the crash. Police also said Blaise's registration for the motorcycle had expired and he was disqualified for life due to prior convictions.

Due to a serious accident between a motorcyclist and another vehicle, part of a main road in Colchester was closed for almost four hours on Friday evening.

Colchester Police said the incident occurred on Main Street between Birchwood Drive and East Road.

According to police, the motorcycle's driver, Scott Blaise of New Haven, Vermont, was traveling toward Essex when he lost control and fell from the motorcycle onto the road. The motorcycle was then struck by an oncoming vehicle.

According to police, Blaise was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe that speed may have played a role in this accident.

Police also said Blaise's motorcycle registration had expired and he was banned from driving for life in Vermont due to previous convictions.
