Police say daycare workers in Daleville were arrested for child abuse

DALEVILLE, Alabama (WTVY) – Two daycare workers were arrested after abusing at least one child at the Happy Hearts Christian Academy daycare center, according to Daleville police.

On Thursday, police received a 911 call at Enterprise Medical Center about child abuse. After arriving at the hospital, officers spoke with the child's parents.

When the child was picked up, he had bruises and swelling that were not there in the morning, the child's parents said.

During the police interview, officers were directed to the Happy Hearts Christian Academy daycare center.

After an investigation, police arrested 20-year-old Kailey Gilley of Daleville for aggravated child abuse and 30-year-old Magan Koker of Enterprise for four counts of aggravated child abuse.

Both women were taken to the Dale County Jail.

Police said the incident was still under investigation and further charges were expected.
