No injuries after shooting in food court at Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe

It happened around 7:30 p.m. at the mall near Interstate 10 and Baseline Road.

Authorities said they were called to the scene after several people called 911 and reported “gunshots” in the food court. Officers arrived on scene and began searching the mall several times and speaking to witnesses to make sure everyone was OK.

Police confirmed that there was no active shooter and no one was injured. According to witnesses, the suspects fled the area before police arrived.

Dozens of police officers and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office officers arrived on the scene and blocked various exits from the mall.

Two teenagers said they had to hide out of fear.

“We just saw people running down the hallway, went into the back room and heard shots being fired in the dining room,” one said.

“I was just scared. I saw people running, so I freaked out. I didn't know what was going on, so I just hid back there,” the other said.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.
