2 Indiana teenagers arrested for various threats in schools

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police (ISP)-Indianapolis Post officials investigated three separate threats against schools in the past week. Two of those resulted in the arrest and detention of juvenile defendants, and the third case was unfounded.

The information came from the Internet. Working closely with the school staff involved, the officers quickly identified suspects and obtained search warrants. Two young people aged 12 and 15, who are believed to be responsible for the threats, were taken into custody. The three investigations were not related.

ISP Lt. Josh Watson said, “Threats of violence against a school must be taken seriously and it is imperative to thoroughly investigate each incident and utilize all available investigative resources. Anyone with information about a threat of violence should report it to the school and police immediately. School safety is our highest priority and we will continue to work with our partners across the state to ensure children are safe in school.”

The arrests were made based on reasonable suspicion. Since the suspects are minors, the sharing of information is limited. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
