Man from Gilmer allegedly shot man from Longview

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – Longview police responded to a shooting Friday and found a man with a gunshot wound who later died from his injuries.

At approximately 10:15 a.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of McCann Road. Dequalin Vaughn, 20, of Longview, was found with a gunshot wound, according to Longview police. He was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

After the investigation, detectives identified 23-year-old Eddie Floyd Hill Jr. of Gilmer as the suspect. He was already wanted for a felony in a case in Marshall and was taken into custody in Gilmer without incident.

Hill was booked into the Upshur County Jail on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon and deadly conduct.
