Will Florida State quarterback Brock Glenn play against Memphis?

The last time Florida State's football team took the field, the sold-out crowd at Doak Campbell Stadium erupted in chants for the backup quarterback.

A weak offense led DJ Uiagalelei and the Seminoles to a 28-13 loss to Boston College, their second straight game against an unranked opponent after entering the season ranked No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. When Memphis travels to Tallahassee, Florida, to face the Seminoles (0-2) at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, the “We want Brock” chants could get louder if the Tigers have their way.

The “Brock” that FSU fans were demanding would be none other than Brock Glenn, a Memphis native who attended Lausanne Collegiate School, an independent college school in the Memphis area. Glenn is listed in the Seminoles' rankings as a reserve player, ahead of true freshman Luke Kromenhoek.

As a freshman, Glenn made four appearances for FSU last season and was a starter twice. Here's everything you need to know about Glenn, including his recruitment, stats and more:

Will Brock Glenn play against Memphis?

As always, that's true for fans at every level of football: When the starting quarterback is struggling, the most popular player on the team is the backup QB. Through two games, Uiagalelei has completed 40 of 69 passes (58%) for 465 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His 49.1 QBR is 75th in the nation. More concerning is the number of throws Uiagalelei hasn't made to open receivers.

FSU coach Mike Norvell — the former Memphis coach — has not indicated that Uiagalelei is being replaced. But if the offense struggles against Memphis, Glenn, who started in the ACC Championship Game against Louisville and in the Orange Bowl against Georgia, will likely be the player called up first.

“It definitely wasn't just him. I really liked his attitude and approach. He's got a lot of experience and knows how to play the game. He knows how to respond to good challenges and obviously some of the challenges that have come up. I think he brought the right attitude and approach to what we need and what we need to continue to do as this offense grows together.”

Brock Glenn High School

Glenn attended Lausanne Collegiate School in Memphis, where he was a two-year starter. During his prep career, he totaled over 4,500 yards of offense, 57 passing touchdowns and 11 rushing scores. In his senior season, Glenn led Lausanne to an eight-win season and a quarterfinal appearance in the Tennessee High School Division II Class AA playoffs. He finished his senior season completing 74 of 126 passes for 1,413 yards and 18 touchdowns, along with 44 rushing yards and seven rushing scores.

As a junior, Glenn completed 97 of 155 passes for 1,576 yards, 23 touchdowns, 161 rushing yards and three TDs, leading his high school to the semifinals.

Recruiting Brock Glenn

Glenn, a 6-foot-2 quarterback, has earned status as a 3-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was the 481st-ranked prospect, 30th-ranked quarterback and 12th-ranked player in Tennessee during the recruiting cycle, according to the recruiting website.

In the summer before his final season, he officially visited Ohio State, Florida State, Auburn and TCU. Glenn committed to the Buckeyes on July 30, 2022. He was the only quarterback in the class for OSU at the time, but he decided to decommit and join Norvell and FSU on November 21, 2022. He unofficially visited Tallahassee four days later, and Norvell visited on December 5, 2022. Glenn officially signed with FSU on December 21, 2022, the first day of the early signing period. He was early enrolled with the Seminoles on January 6, 2023.

Although Glenn was the only player signed for FSU's 2022 recruiting class, Norvell and his coaching staff made Glenn aware that the Seminoles would be looking to sign two players from that class. That's what prompted Chris Parson, a 3-star QB from Ravenwood High in Brentwood, to decommit to FSU.

Glenn made four appearances for the Seminoles in 2022, including two starts. His first career start was the ACC Championship Game against Louisville, with Travis and Rodemaker both out with injuries, where he led FSU to a 16-6 victory. His second career start was the Orange Bowl against Georgia, after Rodemaker opted out of the bowl and decided to transfer from FSU.
