Arrest made after fatal ghost train crash on Henry Hudson Parkway that killed future groom

NEW YORK – Police have arrested a suspect in the deadly August Wrong-way driver accident on the Henry Hudson Parkway in which a groom died the day before his wedding.

Kirk Walker, 38, and his cousin Robert McLaurin, 40, were killed in the early morning accident. Walker and his fiancée were get married the next day.

Police have arrested a 17-year-old on several charges, including manslaughter and hit-and-run.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on August 24.

According to police, the teenager was driving southbound in the northbound lanes on Henry Hudson Street when he collided head-on with another car.

Walker and McLaurin were pronounced dead at the scene.

Walker's fiancée and other family members held a vigil the following day, the day they were supposed to be married.

Mayor Eric Adams $1,000 of his own money provided as a reward for the casewhat he called a “horrific, horrific incident.”

“Any accident is a terrible accident, but some of them can become Shakespearean tragedies. The day before the ceremony, the family is devastated, as you can imagine,” Adams said.
