South Glens Falls man convicted of murdering Albany musician

A South Glens Falls man was found guilty of murder Friday in connection with the 2023 death of Benjamin Rowe.

Jeff Henderson, 21, was found guilty of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in a jury trial late Friday afternoon.

The indictment states that on or about June 25, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., in the area of ​​503 Hamilton Street in the City of Albany, the defendant caused the death of Benjamin Rowe.

In addition to the murder charges, Jeff Henderson is accused of possessing a loaded firearm at the same time, place and location.

Henderson faces a prison sentence of 25 years to life. His sentencing is scheduled for November 8.

According to the Benjamin X. Rowe Project website, Rowe was a “pillar of the Albany music scene.” He and his roommates operated a local venue called “The Rat Den.” Rowe booked and organized shows in the Albany area. He was also a songwriter, singer, bassist, and frontman for the Albany metal duo Miller Time.

According to his obituary, Ben was a lifelong resident of Guilderland. He graduated from Guilderland High School in 2015 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Human Development from U Albany.
