K Reddy criticises Rahul Gandhi for his silence on Dallas incident

Hyderabad/New Delhi, September 14 (UNI) Indian Minister for Coal and Mines and Telangana state BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy has once again questioned the credibility of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that his words and actions are consistently inconsistent.

In a statement released on Saturday, Reddy criticised Gandhi for speaking abroad about the dismantling of India's democratic values and disregard for the Constitution without addressing the undemocratic behaviour displayed by Congress supporters in Dallas on September 7.

Reddy was referring to an incident involving Rohit Sharma, a senior journalist with India Today, who interviewed Sam Pitroda, the Congress party's foreign affairs chief, during Rahul Gandhi's recent visit to the US. After asking Pitroda about Gandhi's foreign visit and the reactions of the Indian diaspora, Sharma asked, “Will Rahul Gandhi also raise the problems of Hindus in Bangladesh during discussions with American lawmakers?” The question reportedly enraged the Congress leaders present.

Congress leaders are said to have insulted Sharma and confiscated his phone.

Reddy accused Gandhi's group of being afraid to answer legitimate questions, especially those related to the treatment of Hindus. “This is about Rahul Gandhi and his inner circle. The question about the massacre of Hindus in Bangladesh reveals how the Congress party treats Hindus. Is it not telling that the Congress leaders could not answer a legitimate question and instead attacked the journalist?” Reddy asked.

He urged all democratically minded people to condemn Rahul Gandhi and his allies and accused them of spreading false propaganda that journalists are not protected even abroad. Reddy condemned the alleged attack on Sharma and called it an atrocity carried out at Gandhi's behest.

Reddy also referred to what he saw as the Congress party's longstanding suppression of the media, citing the Emergency imposed by Rahul Gandhi's grandmother Indira Gandhi during which many journalists were detained under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA). “The habit of silencing the press is in the DNA of the Congress party, especially the Nehru-Gandhi family,” he claimed.

Reddy also criticised the Congress party for its failure to safeguard the interests of Hindus, adding that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had raised concerns about the security of Hindus in Bangladesh during his recent talks with US President Joe Biden and the interim government of Bangladesh.

According to Reddy, Gandhi's reluctance to address issues of Hindu protection stems from the Congress party's alleged anti-Hindu ideology. He stated that the majority of Indians no longer trust the Congress party, even though it claims to defend the Constitution.
