Accident today on I94: 1 dead and 1 injured in 5-car collision on the southbound ramp to I80 eastbound in Lansing, Illinois, state police say

LANSING, Ill. (WLS) – One person was killed and another injured in a five-vehicle crash in the southern suburbs early Saturday morning, Illinois State Police said.

According to Lansing police, the accident occurred on the Interstate 94 southbound ramp to Interstate 80 eastbound shortly before 2 a.m.

ISP officers arrived at the scene and found one person dead. Another person was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The ISP did not initially provide any further information about the identity of the victims.

What caused the crash was not immediately clear.

The ramp was closed while officers investigated, but reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
