Driver thrown from vehicle, dies in crash in Highland County, cops say

HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) – A motorist is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Highland County on Saturday, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol officials.

Police said they were called to Sorg Road near Davidson Road in Whiteoak Township around 12:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation revealed that James W. Hart, 60, was driving a 1967 Dodge pickup truck westbound on Sorg Road when the vehicle veered to the right, collided with a grain bin, and Hart was ejected from the truck. Police added that the truck then struck a barn before coming to a stop.

Hart died at the scene of the accident, OSP said.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

The police investigation is still ongoing.
