Pokémon GO Community Day Guide for September 2024 – Nintendo Wire

Starting in January 2018, Community Day is a monthly event in Pokémon GO that puts a specific Pokémon in the spotlight. One day a month, a Pokémon selected by Niantic will have its spawn rate increased for an hour block, and the main Pokémon's shiny appearance rate will be increased. Community Day also offers other benefits, such as the featured Pokémon evolving to learn at least one exclusive attack, extending the duration of Lure Modules, Event Boxes, and more.

While Community Day (normally) only happens once a month, Pokémon that appear on Community Days in the same calendar year from January to November return in December. Community Day, which takes place in December, is a two-day event where Community Day Pokémon from the same and previous year return in the form of raids, eggs, and increased spawns, so if you can't attend a particular Community Day, you still have another chance to catch that Pokémon (and its shiny version) again!

Additionally, Niantic has brought back the old Community Days with Community Day Classic! This spin-off event, which debuted in January 2022, was similar to the 2018 Community Days but offered some additional event bonuses (most notably Photobomb encounters).

Please note: the regular opening hours for Community Day have changed. Niantic has started to remove the old “2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. your local time” block for future Community Day events starting in April 2022. However, a new five-hour “sub-event” picks up where Community Day left off, focusing on in-person Raid Battles. During these Raid Battles, Community Day Pokémon will appear near the Gym for 30 minutes and feature increased Community Day Shiny rates.
