A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with “apparent minor injuries” after being struck from behind on Porter Road this afternoon.

According to Phoenix Regional Dispatch, Maricopa Police and Fire Department responded to Porter and Honeycutt Roads at 12:06 p.m. after a crash involving a person trapped was reported. First responders on scene determined no one was trapped.

Both a motorcycle and a Nissan Cube were traveling south on Porter Road when the motorcyclist turned on his turn signal and slowed to turn into the Circle K parking lot, city spokeswoman Monica Williams said.

The Nissan driver did not notice the turn signal and hit the motorcycle at a speed of 72 km/h, Williams said. The driver remained on scene for the investigation.

“The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital in the Valley with what appeared to be minor injuries,” Williams said.
