JCPS bus driver resigns after student fight breaks out on bus

A Jefferson County Public School bus driver announced her resignation Friday, a week after an attack on her bus left a student with two black eyes.

On Sept. 6, a student attacked another student on the bus driven by Lillian Dixon. A video of the incident, taken by a third student on the bus, shows the attacking student punching the 12-year-old victim nearly 40 times, stomping on him and then removing his belt to use it in the fight, the Courier Journal previously reported.

In a 15-minute video posted to Facebook on Friday, Dixon said she had quit her job as a bus driver at JCPS. She also apologized to Whitney Davis, the victim's mother, and described her recollection of the sequence of events.
