Providence man arrested on fugitive from justice, another arrested for drunk driving

PROVIDENCE – Two men were arrested by Rhode Island State Police in separate incidents, one on fugitive from justice and the other on drunken driving charges, officials said Sunday.

At 10:17 a.m., Jashon Dent of Providence was arrested by Scituate Barracks officers on an arrest warrant issued by the Attleboro Police Department.

The original charge was theft under $1,200.

The arrest occurred following a traffic stop on Valley Street.

Dent was summoned to State Police headquarters and later taken to Sixth District Court for arraignment.

Earlier, at 2:48 a.m., police arrested Marlon Fuentes, 42, of Providence, for driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages and/or drugs with an unknown blood alcohol content (his first offense) and for refusing to submit to a chemical test (also a first offense).

Fuentes was stopped on Manton Avenue and taken to State Police Headquarters for processing.

After being charged, he was released by a justice of the peace into the custody of a responsible adult.
