Jorginho James, former professional footballer, is accused of attacking his estranged wife in a Texas daycare center

Jorginho James, a former professional soccer player who played for Houston Dynamo in the MLS and the RGV Toros in the USL, was arrested for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife at a daycare center.

James, of Pearland, Texas, was charged on Aug. 30 with battery on a family member and bail jumping, the Houston Chronicle reported, citing court records. He allegedly choked the woman in a separate incident in March, officials said.

The woman spoke to FOX 26 Houston after a video of the incident made the rounds on social media.

“As soon as I parked, he jumped in my back seat,” she told the station. “I got out of the car. I went to my daughters' daycare and called 911. While I was still on the phone with them, he started hitting me.”

“He hit me eight times. I don't think he would have stopped if I hadn't fallen. His arm was already ready to hit me a ninth time.”

James told FOX 26 Houston, “This is not the time for me to explain anything.” His attorney declined to comment on the incident to the Chronicle.
