Carson Mumford drops out after accident in the second qualifying round of SuperMotocross at Texas Motor Speedway

Carson Mumford crashed in the first qualifying round of the second round of the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship and suffered a broken leg. His fight for the title is over.

“Man, where do I even start?” Mumford posted on social media. “I had a stupid crash in training today and injured my right leg. I've been riding so damn well lately, it's really heartbreaking.

“The route seemed really strange to me, but that's just how it is, you're not going to like every route you ride. I have an operation scheduled for this afternoon, I'm hoping for the best and I'll be able to leave the hospital in a few days.”

Mumford started the weekend 18th in the points standings despite competing as an unseeded rider. He was leading the qualifying field among the unseeded riders when he crashed on his fourth lap.
