State Police Arrest Student for Making Terrorist Threat at Sussex Consortium – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police arrest 20-year-old Michael Jones of Bridgeville, Delaware, for making terroristic threats that led to the school closing Friday afternoon.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 12:28 p.m., police officers were called to the Sussex Consortium in Lewes for a student vandalizing a classroom and threatening to shoot staff. Before police officers arrived, the school was placed on lockdown due to the student's behavior. Investigation revealed that a special education student named Michael Jones caused approximately $1,500 worth of damage to school property and made threats to shoot school staff. Jones was taken into custody by police officers without incident. No injuries were reported and no firearms were involved.

Jones was transported to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, tried by the Justice of the Peace of Court 2, and released on parole.
