2 people arrested after police observe car break-ins in San Francisco – NBC Bay Area

Two people were arrested after officers observed auto burglaries at two San Francisco tourist locations on the same day, police said Friday.

Robert Sonza, 27, of San Francisco, and a juvenile were taken into custody Sept. 7 after officers observed car break-ins near the Palace of Fine Arts and Alamo Square, police said.

Officers stopped their vehicle with a tire pressure reducer, and it sped away at a high rate of speed until it crashed at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and Pleasant Valley Avenue. The vehicle's occupants fled on foot, police said.

Officers seized property from recent car break-ins and returned it to several victims, police said.

Sonza was charged with, among other things, receiving stolen goods, resisting or delaying arrest, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a firearm as a felon.

Anyone with information is asked to call the San Francisco Police Department at (415) 575-4444 or text TIP411 and begin the message with “SFPD.”
