MUST WATCH: Alex Albon's Q3 hopes in Baku are dashed by bizarre incident as Williams leaves fan hanging from car

Williams impressed with a double Q3 result in qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Saturday, but one aspect of their performance made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

After both Alex Albon and rookie Franco Colapinto had reached the pole position shootout with flying colours, the Thai-British driver was sent on his final run with the airbox fan still fitted.

In a highly unusual sight, Albon stopped at the side of the track to remove the fan himself and then throw it towards the marshals, but the delay left him with insufficient time to complete another lap.

Colapinto and Albon still finished the session in excellent positions P9 and P10, but Williams will have a debriefing to do – and also a visit to the race stewards to explain what happened from their point of view.
