NFL imposes multiple Week 1 fines: Chiefs reportedly fined $100,000, four others fined after Raiders-Chargers brawl

Week 2 has already begun, with the Bills beating the Dolphins on Thursday night, but before the league moves toward its second Sunday schedule of 2024, there are still a few penalties from Week 1 to be assessed. Various reports surfaced on Saturday about a number of penalties the league has assessed since the first week of the year.

The most notable example is the Raiders-Chargers clash at SoFi Stadium. Four Las Vegas players and one Los Angeles player were penalized for their conduct in a brawl that broke out during the clash. The brawl occurred less than four minutes before the end of regulation time. Chargers receiver Josh Palmer was ejected along with corner Jack Jones.

According to NFL Media, the league fined Palmer $11,255. For the Raiders, Marcus Epps was fined $11,817, Maxx Crosby $11,255, Christian Wilkins $11,255 and Jack Jones $5,472.

Here's a look at some other fines handed down in the NFL on Saturday.

According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones, Browns defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson was fined $22,511 for hitting Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott in the Week 1 opener between Cleveland and Dallas. No flag was shown on the play during the game, but the league deemed it worthy of a fine.

Giants linebacker fined for hip-drop tackle

New York Giants linebacker Darius Muasau was fined $4,696 for a hip-drop tackle on Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison. Addison was injured on the play and will miss Week 2.

Chiefs have to pay a $100,000 fine, players are punished in the season opener between BAL and KC

The Kansas City Chiefs were fined $100,000 and tight end Peyton Henderson $5,472 for shoving Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith. Smith, on the other hand, was not penalized for hitting Patrick Mahomes, but was fined $16,883 by the league for unnecessary roughness during a horse collar tackle in the first quarter, according to NFL Media.

Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco was fined $5,582 for unnecessary roughness during a red zone run in the season opener.

Pacheco is seen lowering his head to make contact, and although no flag was thrown on this play, league officials deemed it worthy of a penalty.
