Punchless, toothless, pointless: A's 2, Sox 0

Garrett Crochet managed to get through four innings with one run before exiting, almost like a true major league pitcher who has earned the right to demand things like contract extensions and use the postseason at the trade deadline. But even that one run isn't enough to walk away with a win when your hitters can't make a dent in the scoreboard at all.

Six hits, all singles. Nine strikeouts, one walk. But please keep telling us that everything is OK and the offense doesn't need any help this offseason. You've got it all under control, Getzie.

Maybe Jerry will put a lot of emphasis on the “over” when the White Sox's loss line is 120 next season. That's about the only thing that would make sense about this abominable season.
