New, horrifying details emerge about gruesome murder of family of four in New York – as police arrest illegal immigrant

An illegal immigrant has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of a family of four in their home in upstate New York.

Julio Cesar Pimentel-Soriano, 34, was arrested on September 7 and charged with first-degree murder after allegedly using a “sharp object” in the fatal stabbing attacks on the family in their Irondequoit home.

The charred remains of the family – identified as 30-year-old Fraime Ubaldo, 26-year-old Marrangely Moreno-Santiago, four-year-old Evangeline Ubaldo-Moreno and two-year-old Sebastian Ubaldo-Moreno – were discovered in their burned-out home in the early hours of August 31, DailyMail.com previously reported.

Pimentel-Soriano, an immigrant from the Dominican Republic, where he is also wanted for another 2019 murder, entered Puerto Rico illegally, where he obtained a fake New York ID, according to Irondequoit police.

“With this ID, he was able to travel freely from Puerto Rico to the U.S. mainland,” officials said.

Investigators confirmed that the gruesome deaths, which left veteran police officers shaken, were homicides after finding that all of the victims had stab wounds to the neck and chest, the New York Post reported.

Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles said police are looking for a second person involved in the killings.

“I don't think this was random. I think there is a motive. What the motive is, we are still investigating,” Duckles told WHAM.

Officials also said Pimentel-Soriano operated under the alias Rafael Jose Vargas and had ties to Rochester.

No official reason for the brutal murders has yet been announced

In the days following the family's murder, relatives and friends gathered to pay their respects with an impromptu vigil featuring balloons and stuffed animals outside their Knapp Avenue home.

Irondequoit City Councilwoman Andrae Evans said a few days before the arrest: “Our sincere condolences go out to the family, friends and neighbors.”

“Because nobody, nobody deserves this. And whoever you are who did this, you will be brought to justice.”

Irondequoit Police Chief Scott Peters, a 32-year veteran of the force, was visibly shaken at a press conference. He described the crime scene as “the worst thing I've ever seen” and vowed to “bring these monsters to justice.”

According to the New York Post, Pimentel-Soriano is being held without bail in the Monroe County Jail and his case has been sent to a grand jury.
