State police investigate fatal shooting and crash that left second person dead in Delco

Pennsylvania State Police said Saturday they are investigating the fatal shooting of a motorist whose vehicle subsequently collided with a broken-down vehicle near the I-95-I-476 ramp in Delaware County, killing the driver.

At around 10 p.m., a gray Mazda 5 (model year 200) came onto the right side of the ramp near MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township and crashed into the concrete barrier and railing, police said.

The Mazda continued on the shoulder for approximately 400 meters before colliding with the rear bumper of a broken-down 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, striking the driver, identified as Joshua Waltz, 33, of Odessa, Delaware, who was standing behind the car.

It turned out that the driver of the Mazda, Clinton Martin, 29, of Lansdowne, Delaware County, had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.

Waltz was discovered under the Mazda and was also pronounced dead at the scene.

State police asked the public for help in their investigation.
