Driver charged with drunk driving, pedestrian hospitalized after crash in northeast Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – One person is in the hospital after being hit by a car in Northeast Portland early Saturday, and charges are being filed against the driver, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to a crash in the 1700 block of North Lombard Street. They found one person with life-threatening injuries who was taken to the hospital.

A driver was rescued after driving down an embankment and into the Multnomah Channel on Friday, according to the Portland Fire Department.

The driver, 36-year-old Ashley N. Brodkorb of Portland, stopped at the scene and was detained by police during the investigation. Shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, police announced that Brodkorb had been charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and second-degree assault. She was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

During the investigation, Northeast Lombard Street was closed between Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast 22nd Avenue.
