Two people charged in connection with a violent brawl outside a popular bar near Miami University

Two men have been charged in connection with a fight that broke out last weekend outside a popular college bar near the Miami University campus. A total of four people were involved in the fight, with two of the four involved described in court documents as “victims” of the fight. Jake Cameron, 20, and Kyle Wellging, 22, were both charged with assault. Cameron was also charged with strangulation and criminal damage to one of the victims' iPhones. It all happened outside the Brick Street Bar in Oxford in the early hours of Sept. 8. According to court documents, Willging started the fight when he followed one of the victims out of the bar and punched one of the victims in the head, knocking him to the concrete. Willging continued to punch the victim even after he got back up. Meanwhile, Cameron is alleged to have punched the same victim in the head while he was on the ground. Cameron later knocked the other victim to the ground, where he then suffocated him in a chokehold until he fell unconscious. According to court documents, two bystanders had to pull Cameron off the victim. As he did so, Cameron dropped the victim to the ground, causing his head to strike the concrete. First responders could be heard on radio communications describing the unconscious victim as bleeding profusely from the head when they arrived at the scene. Willging was arrested and processed at the Butler County Jail on Friday. He is described by the jail as a white male with blond hair and blue eyes. He is 5'8″ tall and weighs 185 pounds. As of Saturday, no booking information or mug shot for Cameron was available in the Butler County Jail database. It is unknown what led up to the fight.

Butler County Jail

Kyle Wellging, 22, was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly getting into a fight outside a bar near Miami University. Jake Cameron's mug shot has not yet been released.

It all happened in the early hours of September 8th outside the Brick Street Bar in Oxford.

According to court documents, Willging began the fight when he followed one of the victims out of the bar, punched one of the victims in the head, and slammed him onto the concrete. Willging continued punching the victim after he got up. Cameron allegedly punched the same victim in the head while he was on the ground.

Cameron later knocked the other victim to the ground and choked him until he lost consciousness. According to court documents, two bystanders had to pull Cameron off the victim. As he did so, Cameron dropped the victim to the ground, causing his head to hit the concrete.

When the rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident, they could be heard on the radio describing the unconscious victim as bleeding heavily from the head.

Willging was arrested and arraigned at the Butler County Jail on Friday. He is described by the jail as a white male with blond hair and blue eyes. He is 5'8″ tall and weighs 185 pounds.

As of Saturday, neither booking information nor a mug shot for Cameron were immediately available in the Butler County Jail database.

It is not known what led to the fight.
