Four teams fought for pole position and in the end it was Charles Leclerc who took first place with a remarkable fastest lap of 1:41.365 minutes ahead of Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz on the streets of Baku.

While championship leader Max Verstappen qualified P6, his rival Lando Norris suffered a surprise Q1 exit as yellow flags prevented him from improving to P17. For the first time this season, Sergio Perez also successfully beat his Red Bull teammate in qualifying, finishing P4.

Williams' Franco Colapinto set an impressive lap time to finish ninth, while Ollie Bearman narrowly missed out on Q3 after outperforming his experienced teammate Nico Hülkenberg in qualifying.

Drivers pushed themselves to the limit and many hit the barriers, resulting in brief yellow flags. Ultimately, however, the session passed without major incidents. However, Alex Albon had a bizarre moment at the end when his team left a fan on his car.
