Ollie Bearman's promising weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix came to an abrupt end after the Haas Super Subreddit collided with the barrier during free practice three.

After an outstanding performance on Friday, his first full F1 race weekend for the team he will drive for next season, the 19-year-old Briton crashed at Turn 1 after over-braking.

Bearman desperately tried to get into the run-off area of ​​the corner, but was unable to turn far enough as the car hit the wall sideways, damaging the front left corner.

“Ollie is fine, he is obviously very, very frustrated. He completely overdid it with the braking,” said Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu immediately after the incident.

“Q1 doesn't really change now because of the danger of the yellow flags. In my opinion he just needs to refocus, go back to what he was doing yesterday and regain the confidence before Q1.”
