Arrest warrant issued against suspect who allegedly threatened people with a knife in downtown Pittsburgh

By Patrick Damp September 14, 2024 / 6:47 am EDT / CBS Pittsburgh PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A warrant has been issued for a man wanted for making threats with a knife in downtown Pittsburgh. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, Pittsburgh police were called to the corner of Penn Avenue and 10th Street around 8 a.m. Friday morning for a reported argument. A bicycle officer arrived on the scene and saw a man running after another man and threatening to kill him. The threatening man was carrying a small knife and the officer was able to pursue him, bring him to the ground and take him into custody. Although police initially took the man into custody, they did not have the victim's information to pursue charges and were forced to release the suspect and investigate further. The suspect was eventually identified as 42-year-old Clarence Thomas, who is now charged with two misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats, one count of possession of crime tools and simple assault. During the course of the investigation, police learned there was a second victim in the incident and were able to speak with both victims. As a result, they were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Thomas. This story will continue to develop, stay with KDKA.com for the latest updates. Patrick Damp is a web producer for CBS Pittsburgh.
