Harris organizer defies subpoena from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jordan

A Democratic strategist who helped organize a “White Dudes for Harris” call said he is resisting a subpoena issued Friday by Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

“I object to the subpoena issued by Jim Jordan and the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee in its entirety. This subpoena serves no legitimate legislative purpose – it is invalid, unconstitutional, and unenforceable,” Mike Nellis, CEO of Authentic Campaigns, said in a post on X late Friday.

The House Judiciary Committee had previously subpoenaed Authentic Campaigns, a company for which the daughter of the New York judge presiding over former President Trump's hush money trial worked. In a letter late last month, Jordan asked Nellis to testify alongside the company and sign an affidavit that Authentic Campaigns never had any contact with Judge Juan Merchan.

Nellis also published his legal team's letter to Jordan and urged his followers to read it.

The letter states: “Authentic's work is in no way related to the legal proceedings against former President Trump in New York” and that the company “has had no role, involvement, or influence in these proceedings.”

“Your repeated insinuations to the contrary and your argument that Judge Merchan may not have been impartial in presiding over the trial of former President Trump because Authentic 'worked for President Trump's political opponents and Ms. Merchan and Authentic Campaigns may have benefited financially from the prosecution and conviction of President Trump' are as baseless as they are dangerous,” the letter continues.
