10-year-old charged with threatening schools in Red River Parish | News

COUSHATTA, Louisiana – A 10-year-old youth faces multiple charges for allegedly making terroristic threats against schools in Red River Parish.

On Wednesday, Red River Parish officials received a call from an individual regarding a social media post indicating a threat to Red River Parish schools.

The sheriff's office said additional officers have been dispatched to patrol all schools to ensure safety. Coushatta police also sent officers.

Red River Parish Schools Superintendent Allison Strong activated school lockdown protocols for all facilities and notified all parents through the school's Parent Square alert system.

The original post was made by a 10-year-old youth who currently attends Red River Elementary School. The student's mother voluntarily brought the youth to the sheriff's office on Friday, where he was charged with terrorizing and unlawfully disrupting school operations. He was taken to the Ware Youth Center pending a hearing in juvenile court next week.
