Man arrested for possession of stolen firearm in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) – A man was arrested in Bridgeport on Friday for possession of a stolen firearm.

Police said they stopped a vehicle in the area of ​​Howard Avenue and Fairfield Avenue for an equipment violation.

An investigation revealed that the driver, 34-year-old Sasha Garcia, had a warrant out of Montville. She was transported to the police station where she was picked up by Montville police.

Arrest warrants were also issued in Montville and Bridgeport for the passenger, 34-year-old Tavon Holman.

He was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm. He was also found to be a convicted felon with previous convictions for theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.

He is charged with theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a pistol, unauthorized carrying of a pistol and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

Based on his arrest warrant from Bridgeport, he was also charged with violating the deadly weapons registry.

His bail is set at $100,000 for the first warrant and $5,000 for the Bridgeport warrant.
