2 dead in crash on I-80 in Tinley Park – NBC Chicago

Two people were killed in a crash involving an SUV and a semi-trailer in the westbound lanes of I-80 in Tinley Park early Sunday morning, according to the Illinois State Police.

Authorities said patrol officers responded to mile marker 146.5 of the westbound lanes of I-80 between La Grange Road and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park shortly after 4:20 a.m. for a report of a fatal crash.

Authorities said the crash involved a Dodge Journey SUV and a semi-trailer truck, but the circumstances of the accident are unknown.

Two of the people involved in the accident were pronounced dead. However, it is unclear which vehicles the dead were in and whether anyone else was in any of the vehicles at the time of the collision.

The westbound lanes of I-80 near the crash site were closed for hours while authorities investigated, but all lanes were reopened by 9:20 a.m.
