Winnipeg police investigate incident involving at least two vehicles on Osborne Street

Winnipeg police cordoned off the scene of an incident involving at least two vehicles that spanned several blocks of Osborne Street on Saturday evening.

An area between Woodward Avenue and Brandon Avenue was cordoned off with yellow tape.

Winnipeg police have not yet released details about the circumstances of the incident.

A CBC reporter saw police officers tending to a damaged truck that had stopped near the intersection of Osborne Street and Brandon Avenue. Several officers placed evidence markers on the ground next to the truck.

Police also investigated a second vehicle near the intersection.

An SUV was stopped near the driveway and steps of a church. Both parts were damaged. The front of the vehicle was dented.

Bruce Huston, a local resident, said he heard what sounded like a “horrific accident” and rushed out of his house to see what was happening. He saw police officers tending to people at the scene, where several ambulances had been called.

“There were police cars everywhere, I mean, you couldn't even move, they had the whole area cordoned off,” Huston said.

“It was incredible.”

The police have not yet provided any information on the number of injured people or the nature of their injuries.

Police are expected to release further information about the incident later on Sunday.
