Accident on the Hardy Toll Road: Deputy in “serious condition”

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — An off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy was taken to an area hospital in serious condition following a crash that may have been caused by motorcyclists attempting to take over the Hardy Toll Road, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The sheriff said a group of six motorcycles may have attempted to hold up traffic to take over the toll road. The motorcyclists reportedly remained at the scene of the accident. No fatalities were reported in the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
