Three teenagers arrested after car break-ins

Officers were alerted to an emergency call about a break-in into vehicles early Sunday morning.

BEAUMONT, Texas – Beaumont police arrested three teenagers early Sunday morning after they broke into vehicles and attempted to flee from officers.

At 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding individuals breaking into vehicles in the 1900 block of Roberts St.

When officers arrived on scene, they saw several people near a broken-in Kia. The ignition column was also damaged.

The suspects fled the scene but were caught by police shortly afterwards.

During the foot chase, police said a stolen firearm was discovered that had been dropped by one of the suspects.

Two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old were arrested and taken to the Minnie Rogers Youth Detention Center.

The youths are accused of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, involvement in organized crime, fleeing from arrest and stealing a firearm.

“The Beaumont Police Department remains committed to combating criminal activity and keeping our community safe,” the agency said. “We encourage citizens to continue to report any suspicious activity.”
