Chiefs' Harrison Butker takes a photo with these two great conservative political commentators

Harrison Butker, kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs, continues to express his cultural conservative ties in his eighth NFL season, which has now officially begun, and takes part in a show hosted by former FOX News commentator Tucker Carlson.

The Tucker Carlson Live Tour stopped in Kansas City on Thursday night, and after attending the local event, Butker appeared in a post on Carlson's Instagram alongside special guest and fellow prominent conservative voice Megyn Kelly.

Butker's popularity in conservative circles began after he gave a controversial commencement speech at Benedictine University, a Catholic college in the Kansas City area. The kicker's speech was criticized primarily for his outdated view of women's roles as “housewives,” but also included condemnations of “dangerous gender ideologies,” skepticism about the winner of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, and even references to his belief in the Jewish deicide of Jesus Christ.

“I believe you women have heard the most diabolical lies,” Butker said in his address. “Some of you may go on to have successful careers, but I dare say that most of you are most looking forward to your wedding and the children you will bring into the world.”

His speech sparked widespread criticism from notable league stakeholders, with both the NFL and many prominent Chiefs stars publicly distancing themselves from his comments. However, Butker's jersey quickly became the most popular jersey in the NFL merchandise store and also received support from Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, who tweeted: “I love you @buttkicker7 [Butker’s Twitter handle]. My brother.”

The conservative political sphere has developed a renewed interest in the Super Bowl champions, sparked by the social media activity of star quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife Brittany. The former college football star and known friend of Taylor Swift appeared to like an Instagram post detailing Donald Trump's political agenda. While she retracted her like due to public pressure, Brittany liked several posts expressing her support for the Republican presidential candidate.

Trump welcomed Brittany's apparent support in a lengthy Truth Social post and reiterated his appreciation for the NFL wife during a recent appearance on FOX News. “If you want to know the truth, I actually like Mrs. Mahomes a lot better. She's a huge Trump fan,” Trump said. “I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”

Butker was as accurate as ever despite the political controversy, hitting two crucial field goals in the 27-20 opening-day win over Baltimore. The former Georgia Tech player will be back in action Sunday when the Chiefs host Cincinnati at 4:25 p.m. ET.
