3 disappointments after the Bears' exciting comeback in Week 1

One of the Bears' first decisions in free agency was to strengthen their backfield by signing D'Andre Swift.

The 25-year-old running back received a three-year, $24 million contract after an outstanding 2023 season with the Philadelphia Eagles. In his last season with the Eagles, Swift ran for 1,049 yards and five touchdowns on 229 carries. He also had 39 receptions (49 targets) for 214 yards and one touchdown.

Bears fans will be hoping Swift can replicate those statistics in his first season in the Windy City. However, the former Eagles running back got off to a terrible start on Sunday that was a microcosm of the Bears' offensive woes.

The 1.75 m tall running back achieved the most yards on his team with 30 yards on 10 attempts (3.0 yards per attempt) and one target in the passing game.

Neither Swift nor the Bears' offensive line performed great, as he was unable to do much running behind the right side of the line (three runs for zero yards).

For the Bears to pose a threat in the NFC North this season, the offensive line will need to support Swift to create explosive plays in the run game. Still, things won't get any easier for Swift as he faces the Houston Texans next week on Sunday night.
