36-year-old Melbourne man killed in Brevard County crash, cops say

BREVARD COUNTY, Florida. – A 36-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Brevard County Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to police, the fatal accident occurred around 5:36 p.m. at the intersection of State Road A1A and Seagrape Road.

According to an accident report, a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling south on A1A, south of Seagrape Road. At the same time, a Hyundai Veloster was traveling north on A1A, south of Seagrape Road.

Police said there was a “front-on collision” between the Dodge and the Hyundai, causing both vehicles to leave the road and end up on the northbound shoulder.

According to the report, the FHP is still trying to determine which vehicle left its lane.

The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 65-year-old man from Vero Beach, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The northbound lanes of A1A are closed while police investigate the accident.
